Synopsis
Dr. David Newcome lives with his wife Jessica and son Gerald in a small English town. Jessica, unaffectionate and cold, is unable to relate to the boy and her stern, unsympathetic discipline aggravates Gerald's nervousness. The doctor hires an attractive governess for Gerald and Jessica becomes jealous of her. Tragedy strikes when Jessica dies after taking some pills and the doctor and the governess are charged with her murder.
